We had the pleasure of sitting down with one of our favorite wedding design and rental companies, Eclectic Hive. Their team provides the extra je ne sais quois that can put any wedding over the top. LWD: Tell us about you! How did Eclectic Hive get started?

Eclectic Hive: Eclectic Hive was founded in 2012 after recognizing the need for a more distinguished, residential approach to event design in the Colorado market. Pulling from several different avenues of the industry (planning, catering, floral, venue management, and interior design) we felt we could bring a fresh perspective to the market. We’re a collaboration of professionals that draw upon multiple philosophies, styles, and ideas to craft an experience for our clients that achieves their purpose.

LWD: What are the benefits of hiring an event designer & rental company?

Eclectic Hive: Speaking specifically about our organization, we carry decades of experience from all perspectives of the event industry and have a tremendous amount of knowledge in how the elements of not only design, but functionality and guest experience play into the success of an event. We love working with our clients to bring their personality to their event through our designs while creating moments that encourage a personal connection. The Hive has a reputation for carrying a high-end, luxury product that isn’t found in most rental options.  Paired with a creative approach to achieving the guests needs, we deliver an elevated version of our client’s vision.

LWD: In addition to rental & lounge décor, do you also provide drape, lighting and design services?

Eclectic Hive: We specialize in event design by servicing (internally) soft seating, reception styling (bar & cocktail), residential lighting (chandeliers, table & floor lamps, perimeter up-lighting, etc.) accents & textiles, and dining/food station décor. Upon request, we collaborate with our extended design team to complete the overall vision by adding in custom drape, production lighting, floral and planning services. 

LWD: What’s your favorite part of the wedding design process?

Eclectic Hive: It’s always incredible to learn about their story- how they met, what inspires them, and what the future holds in store! This is a time for us to dream together and weave a narrative of their story as a couple throughout the design. Inspiration can come from anywhere or from several directions at this phase and that’s what makes it exciting! This is also one of the most important steps to creating a beautiful wedding that speaks directly to the couple’s journey.

LWD: How far in advance of the wedding should couples start working with you?

Eclectic Hive: Typically clients begin their process with us at least 6 months in advance, and for larger weddings or anything involving a destination, closer to a year! It’s amazing how time flies with all of the planning that needs to happen, so the sooner we get involved, the better.  

LWD: What does your day-of execution include?

Eclectic Hive: We send an army! All of our weddings have a designer and a complete installation staff onsite. We ensure that everything is exactly as discussed and planned, down to pillows, throws, and table top accessories. We love knowing that our couples don’t have to worry themselves with the details and get to enjoy the company of their family and friends!

LWD: What’s your general price range?

Eclectic Hive: We work in all price points ranging from $2500 up to $250,000 for our wedding clients.
