Yay You're Engaged! Measuring and Ordering Your Gown
A continuation from our series…
Congratulations, you’ve said yes to the dress! The next steps are crucial to ordering you the correct size, with the correct details for your dress, and making sure your gown arrives on time for your wedding.
Length & Proportion Measurements and Custom Changes: First, we take a few length and proportion measurements while you are wearing the sample of your gown. These measurements are taken to ensure that we are ordering the correct length (either standard length or custom length) and that the waistline, neckline, and skirt will all work well for your proportions. This is also the time to measure for any specific custom changes you’re desiring, such as a changed neckline, lowered back, adding a sleeve, etc. After these initial length and proportion measurements, we take your fit measurements in your bra and underwear in the dressing room. We compare your fit measurements to the specific size chart of the designer you have chosen, and then recommend a size that will work best for you. Bridal sizing is not like your normal clothing size! Don’t focus on the number; we’re here to help you choose the size that will make you look and feel best, with the goal of minimizing the amount of alterations you will need. In some cases, we recommend custom sizing to ensure a better fit. Whether you go with a standard size or a custom size, expect to need alterations once your gown arrives for that fits-like-a-glove feeling (and for the right hem length and bustle) that is so important for your wedding dress.
Deposit and Estimated Shipping: Once you’re back in your street clothes (sad, we know!), we go over some important paperwork and take a 50% deposit at the time of purchase. Within two to three weeks after you purchase, your stylist will email you providing the estimated arrival date range for your gown. This will vary based on designer, wedding date and whether you needed a rush for your order.
Your Gown Arrives!: YOUR dress is here! At this time, the remainder of your gown balance is due within 10 days of your gown arrival. When your gown arrives at Little White Dress, our experienced operations and management teams does a thorough inspection of your gown to make sure that the sizing, length, embellishments, and any custom changes turned out exactly as planned. We’ll schedule a time for you to come in and try on your dress and to go over next steps for your alterations and accessories.
Next up, you’re off to choose your accessories and begin the alterations process!
