Lovely Kate used to work at Little White Dress, so we were extra thrilled for her when she got engaged and came back to LWD to find her wedding dress. We had no doubt that her wedding would be simply stunning, and we love what she chose to wear on her wedding day - the beautiful Liancarlo style 5843, featuring floral Lyon lace, and a veil and headpiece by Love Veils & Accessories. Kate found her gown during a Liancarlo trunk show, where designer Carlos Ramirez helped her choose the perfect dress for her urban garden wedding. After her gorgeous wedding, we chatted with her about her husband, her dress, and her big day!

How did you and your husband meet and get engaged?

We first met in 2011 on a hot July night in Denver. I was out with my girlfriends and James was with his guy friends. Our groups crossed paths, which is when James and I hit it off. It was an instant connection! I think they call it LOVE at first sight. We have been inseparable ever since!

We got engaged at Alamo Placita Park. It is a park where we have been together many times. A park with a garden that is meticulously maintained in the summer months - with beautiful foliage and blossoming flowers. A park that will forever be our special place. Shortly after James and I met, we went to this park early one evening. It was our first time there together, and despite our relationship being in its very early stages, I remember thinking to myself - "this would be the perfect place to get engaged." Of course, I never told him that since we had only been dating for a few months. And since then, I had forgotten my thought in that fleeting moment. Flash forward a couple of years. On February 22nd of 2014, James lured me to this park, and by total surprise I saw him standing there among one hundred long-stemmed red roses. At that moment, I knew what was about to happen. When I reached the middle of the park where he was standing, he got down on one knee, expressed his love to me and proposed. Of course, I said yes! After a few moments of hugs and kisses, James said "there's another surprise, we are leaving for a vacation in Costa Rica... tonight!" So off we went on an amazing trip to relax on the beach and let our engagement soak in.

What was your vision for your wedding?

We envisioned our wedding to have an "Urban-Garden-Intimate-Romance" feel.  James and I love a beautiful garden, and being that we got engaged in one, we thought it would be perfect to continue the theme and get married in a romantic garden-setting as well.  I thought the soft greys and teals coupled with pale pinks and sage-green succulents, would compliment the ivory Lyon lace flowers on my dress.  Living in the city, we also appreciate the urban style and feel to many of the buildings here, so the exposed brick walls and wood-beam ceilings at the reception, were right up our alley.  The soft palette of colors, flowers, silver-mercury-glass-vases and flickering-candle-votives, definitely tied everything together!

How did you decide on your dress? Did you know you wanted a Liancarlo gown or did you try on dresses by several designers?

Having worked at LWD for a couple of years, I was spoiled with being surrounded by the amazing designers and their gorgeous creations.  However, I was particularly drawn to the Liancarlo gowns and I was always so inspired by Carlos and his work - he is a true artist and a genuinely nice person.  Meeting and working with him at the trunk show was definitely a treat!  The Lyon lace on my gown is so unique and the fact that it is only made in one mill in the world, made the dress itself even more special in my mind.  I tried on several dresses from the Liancarlo collection and a few from other designers, but I always knew my dress was "The One."

What was it like to work with the designer himself as you chose your gown?

It was a very special experience to work with the designer himself as I chose my gown.  No one knows the dresses better than Carlos, so having his eye and opinion helped with the process.  He was able to explain exactly how my dress would lay and fit once it was made it my size.  I feel so honored to have had the opportunity to work with the designer to find my perfect dress!

Any advice for brides in the process of choosing their wedding gown?

My advice to brides in the process of choosing their wedding gown is to follow your heart.  Many people will have their own idea or opinion of what looks good or what you style you should go with, but at the end of the day, what matters most, is that YOU feel beautiful and confident on your wedding day.
