Experience the New Liancarlo Collection!
The brand new 2018 collection of gowns from Liancarlo will be at Little White Dress January 19th-28th! Ranging from the no-fuss chic style of the Azul collection (starting at $1,700) to the ultimate luxury, and highly customizable, statement gowns of the Couture collection (starting at $3,000), there really is something for every bride in the Liancarlo collection. Liancarlo's Fashion Director, Sara Mack, answered some questions about the collection - and brides are in luck, because she will be at LWD on January 19th and 20th for this super special trunk show!
LWD: How did designer Carlos Ramirez start in bridal?
Sara: Carlos started Liancarlo in 1981 after deciding law school just wasn't the right path for him. He couldn't shake his need to create so he started making eveningwear samples in his mother's sewing studio and selling them to stores in Miami. His business continued to grow and in 2001, Liancarlo launched its first bridal collection.
LWD: What sets Liancarlo apart?
Sara: When Carlos began Liancarlo, he brought his artistic eye to designing a collection. We focus on unique touches of lace or thread embroideries that give a modern timelessness to the gown. Our gowns are also all sewn by one seamstress from beginning to end in our Miami offices, under the same roof as our design team. This gives us the ability to customize gowns and give brides a truly unique dress that captures exactly how they want to look on their wedding day.
LWD: What’s the inspiration for the latest collection?
Sara: The Fall 2018 collection is a return to classic romance. Layered laces, illusion necklines, and Romeo and Juliet embroideries all come together in the collection. We wanted to create modern gowns that in 10 or even 20 years, you could look back at your photos and still love your gown.
LWD: Do you have a favorite gown from this collection? If so, why is it your favorite?
Sara: I have 2 favorites because they appeal to different sides of me! Style 7809 because it is clean and sophisticated with a beautiful illusion low back. And for my statement making dress, I love Style 7816. It's got a beautiful full skirt and long train but is fitted through the high hip so it shows your figure. And I love the layered Italian embroidery over the Chantilly lace appliques.
LWD: What’s trending in bridal for 2018?
Sara: Brides are loving our gowns with just a touch of lace or embroidery details. I'm also still seeing a lot of illusion necklines and sheer backs.
LWD: What’s a bridal trend you’re seeing less of this season?
Sara: Although strapless gowns are still popular, I'm seeing more and more brides who are wanting either straps or an illusion neckline.
LWD: What kind of bride is a Liancarlo bride?
Sara: Because we approach our designs with timelessness in mind, our brides range from the those having a simple ceremony on a mountain to a grand gala with a five hundred person guest list. I meet so many of our brides across the country and every bride brings her own unique vision to our gowns. Our brides really are the best!
LWD: What advice do you give brides shopping for their wedding gown?
Sara: Don't be afraid to fall in love with your gown! Whether it's the first gown you try on or your 50th, it's okay if it's The One. The gown helps set the tone for the rest of the wedding- the flowers, the bridesmaid gowns, the linens, etc, so making your decision really helps everything else fall into place. If you find a gown you absolutely love, don't lose that special moment or drive yourself crazy by thinking that you have to keep searching. There is no minimum number of dresses to try on- when a gown speaks to you, you've found the gown you will wear on your wedding day!
