Lexie + Alex's Dream Detroit Wedding
LWD: Tell us a little about your gown shopping experience. What were you looking for in a dress and how did you narrow it down to your favorite?
Lexie: LWD was the first place I came to look for my dress (with very clear inspiration photos in hand). After many other bridal salons, it ended up being the last! I always knew exactly what I wanted and I had the photo to prove it. I finally figured out that the dress in the photo I fell in love with was a Mira Zwillinger gown, and LWD was the only salon in town that carried her! When I tried it on it was pretty obvious that this was the dress for me. My stylist told me, “you have smiled the most in this dress compared to all the others,” a line I will never forget because she was so right - it truly made me the happiest. I LOVED my dress from the moment I spotted it in the picture, to the moment I put it on for the first time, to the moment I took it off after dancing the night away until the bottom of it was dirtier than the ground at the end of the night (no worries here- I already had it cleaned). What’s that advice they give you about finding your partner in life - “when you know, you know?” I think that’s it - that pretty much sums up my wedding dress experience and I have zero regrets!
LWD: How did you end up deciding on your Mira Zwillinger wedding dress? What did you love most about your dress?
Lexie: I loved that my dress (and Mira’s gowns in general) are so “me.” I have always always loved floral and I came to love appliqué flowers when my wedding dress search began. The bust of my dress is filled with these delicate appliqués that have just enough space in between them to see tiny bits of skin which gave it a touch of sexiness. The flowers spoke to me and still do to this day!
LWD: What was your favorite part of your wedding?
Lexie: Our ceremony was the most incredible experience I’ve ever had, ever. It makes my heart happy just thinking about it. I looked at Alex a few times throughout the ceremony and asked him if it was real life. I thought I was going to be super nervous standing in front of everyone, turns out I was the most calm I had been all day. It was honestly magical...though a close second favorite would be crowd surfing into our best friends :)
LWD: Do you have any advice for brides going through the process of finding their wedding dress?
Lexie: For my first ever dress appointment (which happened to be at LWD), I made sure to try on allllll the possible wedding dress silhouettes because I had no idea what they would actually look like on me. I highly recommend doing this because it just solidifies the confidence you’ll have in the final dress you go with. With regards to who you bring with you - I brought a close friend that happened to be in town to my first appointment (my family doesn’t live in Denver) and it was perfect. The rest of my appointments were just me and my stylist and that was equally as wonderful. I was able to stand in front of the mirror with my own judgement and opinions and no one else’s. This decision is hard enough to make, the last thing you need are additional (strong) voices in your head telling you you’re making the wrong choice. My stylist told me something I’ll never forget, “your wedding dress and how you feel in it could (and likely will) set the stage for how you feel the rest of the day.” Now that I’ve had my wedding, I whole-heartedly agree with her. I remember putting it on the morning of my wedding and echoing “Uch loveee this” in my head and what an awesome feeling that was!
LWD: Anything else you want to mention about your experience with LWD?
Lexie: I remember going into LWD for the first time and wondering if it was a mistake because it’s just so beautiful in the space! You feel like you’re in a super fancy, out-of-the-movies bridal salon. But LWD is the furthest thing from “stuffy.” I was so comfortable there throughout the whole process and every time I walked in they treated me like I was part of a family. They follow your lead, instead of the other way around, and never push you in one direction with your gown. I have nothing but great things to say and feel so lucky this is where I found my dress!
