Laura + Paul's Breathtaking Piney River Ranch Wedding
Laura and Paul’s Piney River Ranch wedding was a bright, colorful sight to behold. Piney River Ranch sits 10 miles above Vail Village in a gorgeous valley against a lake. This stunning view combined with the changing yellow Aspen trees was a beyond perfect setting for Laura and Paul to begin their adventure as husband and wife.
Laura fell in love with the Hampton gown by Anne Barge. Hampton is a tulle and Alencon lace fit-and-flare gown with an illusion neckline and back. Laura wore a traditional elbow-length veil to tie her wedding day look together perfectly.
We were lucky enough to have Laura share a few details about her wedding day and gown shopping experience with LWD!
LWD: Tell us a little about your gown shopping experience. What were you looking for in a dress and how did you narrow it down to your favorites?
Laura: All I knew before I started shopping was that I wanted something fairly simple, but special, that felt appropriate in the beautiful mountain setting we chose as our location. So, when I came into LWD, my only requests were to avoid certain fabrics and details that felt too formal for our rustic location. My stylist immediately started identifying a range of silhouettes and fabrics that worked for me. We very quickly realized that something more fitted with some lace detail was the romantic, festive, Colorado look that I wanted.
LWD: How did you end up deciding on your Anne Barge wedding dress? What did you love most about your dress?
Laura: My Anne Barge dress ended up being the perfect combination of all my previous favorites in one dress. When I tried it on I knew it was the perfect combination of classic and modern. I tried a lot of lace dresses with low necklines, but they felt a bit too revealing to me. The illusion neckline on the Anne Barge was the perfect compromise that allowed for the lace detail I wanted without showing quite as much skin as a few others I tried. It really felt like a special wedding dress, but because of the stretch and fabric it was incredibly comfortable to move in and hugged my body in all the right places. I also really wanted to show my back, and the dress had the most beautiful low illusion back with a lace build up. It was perfect.
LWD: What was your favorite part of your wedding?
Laura: A single part? I could never choose. It was so special to see Paul that day as I walked down the aisle. I knew he thought I was the most beautiful woman in the world at that moment. The amount of joy we felt that day was incredible. It's amazing to be surrounded by so many people you love at one time and I'll never forget that. I also loved where we got married - the view is among the most stunning in all of Colorado and we had bald eagles soaring above us during the ceremony and an entire moose family bathing in the Lake during our reception. As a native Coloradan who married an outdoorsman, we loved sharing an authentic and unique Colorado experience with our guests.
LWD: Do you have any advice for brides going through the process of finding their wedding dress?
Laura: Trust your gut, take a chance and try something you may not love on the hanger.
LWD: Anything else you want to mention about your experience with LWD?
Laura: I am grateful for the whole team at LWD. From finding the dress to getting the perfect fit, everyone I interacted with was helpful, kind and patient. The selection really stood out to me as the best in the region and I sometimes wish we could have a vow renewal every year just so I could wedding dress shop with LWD again ;)
