Get To Know! Good Ol'-Fashioned Party (perfect for the vintage Colorado bride!)

Our second Get To Know feature during Vintage Week is about a new company we recently learned about, Good Ol'-Fashioned Party. Kelly, along with her mother, Heather, are the co-founders of Good Ol'-Fashioned Party, a whimsical rental and events company dedicated to all things VINTAGE!  Because many of the designer wedding dresses we carry at Little White Dress Bridal Shop appeal to the modern, vintage Colorado bride, you'll enjoy getting to know this talented mother-daughter team a little bit better...

LWD:  Why did you decide to start your own business - did you see a need for this niche?

Kelly:  As we were planning my vintage, DIY-themed wedding, we had acquired so many beautiful vintage pieces and details that we felt compelled to share these treasures with the rest of the world. The big coastal states have so many options of vintage rental and event companies, we thought it was time to bring that to Colorado. Gone are the days when hotel weddings and five-foot-tall centerpieces are the norm; couples these days want to show off their unique style and creativity, and we want to be there to help them with their vision—whether it's vintage, rustic, eclectic, or artsy—and design one-of-a-kind experiences.

LWD:  What's it like working with your mom?

Kelly:  Working with my mom is a dream come true. She is the woman I have looked up to my entire life, and now I get to work side by side with her. She is a wonderful balance for me—incredibly organized, decisive, resourceful, wise, and that woman knows how to work a power tool. She is the kindest, coolest, smartest woman I know, and having meetings every morning with my mom is pretty freaking neat.

LWD:  What inspires you the most?

Kelly: What doesn't inspire me?! Going to the movies and seeing a fictional world come to life. Reading novels, browsing flea markets, eating ethnic food, biking downtown, listening to music, flipping through magazines, traveling, dinner with friends. Inspiration surrounds us; it's the imagination that brings it to life.

LWD:  What does it mean to be a vintage bride?

Kelly:  A vintage bride has a romantic nostalgia for the past combined with a fervent love for today. She believes in the details and creating timeless moments that will be cherished forever. She is creative, crafty, imaginative, and loves an adventure. She likes to do things differently, she smiles, and she has an eternal hope that is wonderfully contagious.

LWD:  Tell us about a recent client experience you particularly loved?

Kelly:  We recently had an opportunity to style a photo shoot and chose to highlight one of the oldest venues in Denver. The Temple Event Center has only been hosting events for about a year and is located just east of downtown. It was originally built as a synagogue and has the oldest pipe organ in the country in the main auditorium. It has breathtaking stained glass and ceilings that screams vintage coupled with a spectacular ballroom with intimate nooks and crannies. We worked for the first time with Angela Wagstaff from Vintage Cupcake Photography, and she captured some amazing shots of our beautiful model, Cameran. It is just so much fun working with new people, discovering new places, and creating, creating creating...
